Mental illness has long been shrouded in misunderstanding and societal stigma. Words like “head case” are used to diminish and alienate those who are struggling, reducing complex human experiences to cruel labels. My project, "Head Case", seeks to reclaim and reframe this language, bringing these experiences out of the shadows and into the light. By giving visual form to these often invisible battles, I invite viewers to confront their own perceptions and biases. The art challenges the idea that mental illness means being “crazy” or “broken.” Instead, it reveals the strength, vulnerability, and resilience that define us all. "Head Case" is not just about illness—it is about advocacy, visibility, and the urgent need for compassion in how we talk about and treat mental health. I want to create space for dialogue and understanding, breaking down barriers that keep people isolated and misunderstood.
